HELPING YOU TO MAKE A REAL
DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
We believe that small and medium-sized charities are the glue that holds society together. Driven by values and high ideals the sector galvanises people across society to work for the benefit of everyone.
Almond Tree Strategic Consulting is a values-driven consultancy primarily supporting the third sector. Established by Julian Lomas in 2007 following his successful, senior-level career in central and local government, we aim to help you make a real and positive difference for the communities you serve.
Julian is a dynamic leader with an incisive intellect, who motivates and inspires those with whom he works. He has a proven track record of delivering high quality support, innovation and tangible value for clients. High quality relationships are at the heart of how Julian works. He is passionate about public and voluntary service and is himself a charity trustee.
A member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, holding the Diploma in Fundraising Management, he has so far helped to raise almost £250m for charities and social enterprises. Julian is an Affiliated Member of the Chartered Governance Institute having gained a distinction in their Charity Law and Governance Certificate course. He also has a foundation qualification in the General Data Protection Regulation.
Through our extensive networks we often help clients to find high quality specialist support in fields such as human resources, legal advice, accountancy/finance, IT, social impact measurement, marketing, branding and design.
Almond Tree Strategic Consulting is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility.
We hold a CSR gold accreditation and an International CSR Excellence Gold Award. Julian was also a judge at the 2019 International CSR Excellence Awards (for other award categories). We are a corporate member of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and are registered with the Fundraising Regulator.
Since 2020 we have been privileged to support hundreds of small non-profit partners of housing associations across England through bite-sized consultancy and mentoring packages. We have now extended this form of support to Youth Investment Fund grantees.
We have been an approved supplier to a number of major programmes including being the biggest supplier to the Lottery Funded Big Assist programme, an approved supplier to the Communities Can programme and a regular supplier to the Buckinghamshire County Council New Futures programme.
