Free webinars for charities from the OR Society’s Pro Bono team

The OR Society is launching a series of webinars aimed to help charities “build back better” post COVID-19.

The OR Society runs a hugely successful Pro Bono Scheme designed to connect volunteer analysts with good causes. Analysts donate their time and skills to help charities or other voluntary organisations facing difficult decisions or looking for improvement.

To continue to help charities, they are running a series of webinars to explain how the scheme works and how operational research can help the third sector through post-COVID-19 recovery. These webinars will:

  • Explain what operational research is to charities that might not have heard of it

  • Demonstrate how operational research can be used to problem-solve

  • Help charities to understand how to move forward with a complex issue

  • Encourage charities facing difficult challenges to get in touch with our expert volunteers

Find out more about the webinars, which begin on 22 April. Each will be run by an OR professional with experience of helping the third sector with OR skills.

Each month the webinars will help to answer different questions for different kinds of charities. For example, a charitable organisation might have a data problem but have no idea how to begin solving it, and what information you might need to give to an expert to help. These webinars will help to answer these kinds of questions by addressing the common themes that our analysts have faced whilst working with the charity sector. Each webinar will be an hour-long over Zoom, with time at the end for the attendees to ask the presenter questions. The first is being delivered by our trusted associate Ian Seath.

The first webinars in this series are:
